Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art offers pupils the chance to work with a professional artist in a gallery setting.
Over the past year over 700 Primary School pupils from across Sunderland have attended workshops at NGCA. During workshops the pupils are given a guided tour of the exhibitions and have a chance to ask questions, investigate and find their own meanings in the work. They then spend the rest of the day creating their own artwork in response to the exhibition. The work created is often then displayed in our learning space, The Drawing Room, or taken back to the school to be exhibited.
Workshops are subsidised for Sunderland schools, each costing only £130 for a full day. All workshops are for a maxiumum of a class and are designed for specific key stages.
