Summer 2006 NGCA hosted the Orange Young Writers Festival over 2 weeks in July and August '06. The festival, organised by New Writing North was an opportunity for young people aged between 11 and 18 to spend a week with professional writers and have a go at writing poetry, stories and scripts. 30 young people attended and worked with poet Lisa Matthews and short story writer Celia Bryce. Their work will be published in a festival anthology which will be launched at Sunderland City Library and Arts Centre during October half term.
